Trinity Xperiment: Anaesthesia

Anaesthesia is the second album from German studio project Trinity Xperiment, which features Franz Holtmann (guitars), Matthias Krauss (keys, hammond, vintage synths, editing), Gudze (bass, noises, percussion, editing), Jost Nickel (drums), and Neyveli S. Radhakrishna (violin). The album can best be described as a cross between prog-rock, industrial, and electronic, and features seven tracks, a few of which are quite lengthy. The band label themselves as 'crossover' and that does fit seeing as they really don't seem to fit into any neat bucket and might appeal to a variety of music fan. The opening title suite has some nice passages and plenty of well crafted guitar and keyboard passages, while "Tango Obscuro" fluctuates between electronic space rock and more ambient textures. The band go for some heavier sounds on the funky prog of "Try This at Home", and the violin adds a nice touch to the lengthy and quite adventurous "Madras featuring Radha".

Ultimately, what makes Anaesthesia an intriguing listen for some might also make it frustrating for others. Musically, things are a little all over the place, and at nearly 70-minutes the album feels a bit long and some of the tracks could have easily been trimmed. Still, enough here to recommend for anyone into spacey, electronic/prog.
