Eradicator: Influence Denied

Even though we’re more than a month into 2022, I’m still taking some time to work through a few albums I missed in 2021. One of those is Eradicator’s Influence Denied, a solid and powerful thrash album that needs more attention from thrash fans everywhere. I am especially excited about this album because this band knows how to thrash with the best of them. Those familiar with the genre will hear the influence of bands like Testament, Kreator, and Death Angel, but they’ll quickly catch on that Eradicator is more than just a reflection of other bands. Sure, the music is familiar, but it is everywhere as exciting and uncompromising as the genre gets.

Thematically, this album takes a critical look at contemporary culture and wonders at the strange state of everything. Some of that criticism points directly to social media (“Echo Chamber�) and the ways some ideas are bandied about without much thought. Elsewhere, the band looks at problems associated with climate change (“Anthropocene�), with systems of power, and with political hypocrisy. While these themes are all of interest, they rightly sit back while the band guides us through riff after riff of thrashy and intense music. I recommend listening to “Jackals to Chains,� “Mondays for Murder,� “Echo Chamber,� and “Influence Denied� for sure. If you like those, you’ll like the whole album.
