The Georgia Thunderbolts: Can We Get A Witness

The Georgia Thunderbolts show a lot of attitude on their first full-length release Can I Get A Witness. Steeped in 70’s classic rock, this is just plain down and dirty barroom rock-n-roll. “Take it Slow� and “Lend A Hand� open the CD and are foot stomping rockers. Guitarists Riley Couzzourt and Logan Tolbert capture the spirit of southern rock, not looking to be the fastest guns in the west, but rather compliment the music with tasty leads and riffing. A tasty vibrato and tone that is reminiscent of AC/DC’s Angus Young is detected on much of the lead work. The slide guitar and feel of “Looking For An Old Friend� brings a smile to my face, and also features some excellent vocal harmonies. A Blackfoot vibe comes across on “Spirit of a Workin’ Man, and you’ll dig the harmony guitars here. “Midnight Rider� a tip of the cap to their southern roots, and shows off those harmony vocals again, but takes a heavier approach to the Allman Brothers classic. You’ll also hear some harmonica scattered about, and the title track features more excellent guitar riffing. The album cover has a Street Survivors look about it, and honestly I was prepared for the song quality to decline over the 13 tracks, but the rocking energy continues right through the entire disc.
