Nocheez Orchestra: Bootlegs - Live at the Corner Pocket

Here is another album from Nocheez Orchestra led by the Ronnie Neuhauser. This is some whacked out stuff, recorded at the Corner Pocket in Orange, CT in 2008. The album, Bootlegs - Live at the Corner Pocket, was officially released in 2014.

Taking the stage are:
Ronnie Neuhauser (lead and rhythm guitar, vocals)
Trisha Radil Lendroth (vocals)
Fred Melillo (bass guitar)
Jason Gavin (drums)
Mike Yost (vocals)

This is a bootleg recording by friend of the band Joe Rosano and like most bootlegs the quality is not pristine, especially the video but it isn’t terrible. The stage is as basic as it gets but with this band it is all about playing their instruments and that they do very well. Melillo’s bass is very much heard, he is an excellent player, and Neuhauser’s prowess on electric guitar is something to behold. He is a monster on the instrument, both as a rhythmist and soloist. Lendroth’s vocals are filled with passion and depth, she has a robust voice, very jazzy and just a little ‘old school’. Mike’s voice might take some time getting used to as it’s a little rough at times but somehow works in these somewhat weird and whacky tunes. This is a rocking set and any guitar players out there should give Neuhauser a listen as he delivers a few wow-like moments like the scorching lead in the crazy “Commander N’ Thief” and the funky lead-off track “Round World” where it's all about the hefty riffs.

Sure, this will not be for everyone and audiophiles need not apply. That said, these are some fine players and the guitar playing is top notch. For a completely DIY release the results are actually pretty good. Check it out to see and hear it for yourself.
