Sacred Shrines: Enter The Woods

All the way from Brisbane, Australia we bring you Sacred Shrines and their dripping psychedelic garage pop drenched sounds filled with tension and vintage ‘60s flavours. They released their first album titled Come Down From the Mountain in 2016, which I have not heard. Their sophomore effort Enter The Woods is their new platter.

In the band are:
Phil Usher (vocals, guitars)
Beata Maglai (vocals, keys, percussion)
Robbie Zawada (bass)
Matthew Weatherall (guitars)
Jonathan Pickvance (drums)

The band takes vintage ‘60s psychedelic rock and sunshine pop creating an intoxicating and heady album that is both melodic and upbeat. Wonderful lead vocals, perky keyboards, and jangly guitar chords, not unlike The Beatles or maybe even The Beach Boys, give the album opening title track real staying power. The band plants a great hook, and the best part is there are many more to come. The harder driving “Trail To Find” has a more psychedelic rock edge with standout vocals and catchy guitar. A garage rock flavour gives “Front Row Future” a little more heaviness while still retaining its psychedelic nature. The sunshine pop of “Keep All The Sunshine” and the interesting chord progressions in the rocking “Take The Fall” offer more catchy fare.

Enter The Woods is another excellent new album from a band who has lovingly looked into the past to bring some great music to the present. Recommended.

A Rebel Waves Records release.
