Until the Sun: Drowning In Blue

If you were managing the Anaheim Angels, would Mike Trout be sitting on the bench? If your best player was riding the pine, you’d be fired in a week. Keep that thought in your head.

Hailing from the Arizona desert are blues rockers Until The Sun with their second release Drowning In Blue. The band has shared the stage with national blues / rock artists, and has a video for their song “New Delilah�. Most of the tracks are firmly rooted in bluesy guitar rock, and have a direct feel, not a lot of studio gimmicks to be found. Guitarist Brandon Teskey has a good arsenal of blues rock riffs that are featured prominently throughout the 10 tracks. But, why in the world is vocalist Alyssa Swartz playing second string in this band? Her soulful vocals and rich tone are only found on three tracks, and that is a damn shame. She sings with a power and confidence that any band would be lucky to have. Swartz elevates the songs she appears on far above the others, and provides a spark that the band needs to separate themselves from the pack. My favorite tracks feature Swartz on vocals, and the closing acoustic “Deathbed Blues� showcases her voice perfectly. I am sure these guys would be a great band to see in a bar/club, but give the mic to Alyssa!
