Issa: Queen of Broken Hearts
Five full-length albums and a covers record into an ambitiously growing career, Melodic Rock vocaliser Issa Overseen distributes her new and latest offering into the atmosphere with an eleven-track output titled Queen of Broken Hearts; sticking to her punchy and brawny vein of deliciously constructed melodies with a heavier grit being a resident in the mixture.
Fundamentally, I've always been a fan of Issa and I remember buying her very first record Sign of Angels back in 2010. I absolutely loved it and I could not get enough of the astoundingly powerful songs and elevating chorus’; the hooks and the quality were both full of the scorching fire that reigns high and the delivery was just absolutely spot on.
Now, we are in 2021 and Overseen has undoubtedly done it once again with a fully ambitious package crammed with an explosive style of AOR and some melodiously styled Rock; dwelling sweetly alongside her previous efforts as a new possible contender for her strongest album yet.
Primarily, we have the bombastically composed second single ‘Angels Calling’ opening the shenanigans and it notably hits very hard with the perfectly suiting synth vibes, the electrifying vocalised passages from Issa, and the sublime musicianship she has on board in her company, that includes Alessandro Del Vecchio (Hardline/Voodoo Circle) on keys notably adding to the experience to superbly create an absolute stormer of a track as a very fine commencing instalment for the Queen of Broken Hearts.
For me, the strongest track on the album is the pompously Album-orientated Rock giant 'Wait For Love’, that sits graciously well in the midst of this benefaction, and also mixing things up in bulk of the basket, the fantastically muscular anthem ‘The Night it Rained Forever' keeps things commanding forward that could easily be described as an emotionally smothered ballad with a heavier side and a darkened rawer grit; certifying and transposing the realms of power and the true emotion that dwells deep in the heated core of this wonderfully glorified effort with all its passionate musicality.
Furthermore, there are some other adventurous components lodged inside the wings of this contemporary release, including the beautifully presented ballad 'Blue' that Overseen delivers with the most stunning emotion and this is definitely a melancholy affair that really hits home.
Alongside the strength of the stupefying elements already mentioned, the elevating charms of the solidified single 'The Way Out' is a warmly welcoming affair with its usual astonishing signature style from Issa and I am confidently sure fanatics of this particular genre will truly love it. Whilst the music structurally pushes the Melodic Rock boundaries a bit further with assertiveness, it successfully matches this with victory and is it greeted with the wonderful arms of splendour; raising more hairs than you could ever imagine with an uplifting sense of force. All this can be witnessed through the progressively constructed brilliance of the title track 'Queen of Broken Hearts', showing off the ultimate talents and the possible full potential of Issa Overseen, who is obviously painting the picture that she is actually the real true queen of broken hearts.
