Artillery: The Last Journey b/w Trapped Under Ice

Sadly in late 2019 we lost Artillery's original bassist turned guitarist Morten Stützer, but in late 2020 we got a reminder of the band's determination to carry on and celebrate his memory with the release their epic tribute The Last Journey along with a cool cover of Metallica's "Trapped Under Ice." "The Last Journey" is an instantly catchy melodic ballad and classic metal hybrid, boasting all their trademark inventiveness and inspired guitar work. In addition former singers Søren Adamsen and Flemming Rønsdorf have contributed inspired performances that, along with current singer Michael Bastholm Dahl, combine to give the track a truly monumental feel. Wouldn't it be cool if these guys pulled a Michael Schenker and did a special tour with all three singers? Just saying. This is a great song and I would expect it to be a live staple from here on out. Hopefully it will feature prominently on their upcoming album too. "Trapped Under Ice" is a suitably aggressive, if somewhat less intense take on the original. But I'll take it as a reminder of Artillery's mission statement and sign of things to come in 2021. Great stuff.
