Dead Feathers: All Is Lost

Here is an excellent band hailing from Chicago, Illinois. The band is Dead Feathers and released a self-titled debut EP in 2016. The band is back with their first full length release titled All Is Lost on Ripple Music.

Band members are:
Tony Wold (guitar)
Marissa Allen (vocals)
Tim Snyder (guitar)
Rob Rodak (bass)
Joel Castanon (drums)

If you enjoy psychedelic music sans ‘70s era you need to listen to this album. Great vocals, in the vein of Grace Slick in her early days, wonderful riffy guitar with superb soloing and a fiery rhythm section that makes its present felt throughout these ten tracks beginning with the opening tune “At The Edge”. It starts very moody with an eerie droning sound and gentle guitar and softly rolling drums. When the vocals enter it is pure gold and then the psychedelic guitar starts and it gets even better. When the riffs get all fuzzy it’s the icing on the cake. A cool bass riff and psychedelic layering of sounds begins “With Me” featuring a cool, chilled out vibe. Slowly the music turns in a heavier direction with Allen really belting out her soaring notes. It’s a powerful statement and one of many on the album. With “Cordova” you get a mysterious vibe dipped in psychedelia with more fine lead guitar and great builds. The bass line in “Horse And Sands” really stands out and the rocking aural assault of “All Is Lost” makes for another highlight. The trippy, mind altering guitar in the slightly hippy-ish “Darling Sighs” is another very cool moment in an album full of them.

I really can’t say enough about how much I am enjoying this disc. For fans of psychedelic rock music this comes highly recommended.
