Caezium: The World Is Yours

Hailing from Scotland, Caezium is a three member project with their first album titled The World Is Yours released in 2019. The band is:

Jody Butler (lead and backing vocals, lead, rhythm and acoustic guitar)
Connor Forbes (bass, backing vocals on track #3)
Tom Exton (drums on tracks 2 and 3)

Nine guest musicians have been added as well to help the band flesh out their sound. This is classic style hard rock with solid lead vocals and fine musicianship. The melodies are strong so the songs have some staying power and the guitar riffs are highlighted throughout the album.

“Apollo 11” begins the disc with the rumbling of rocket engines and mission control voiceovers. It’s a neat homage to the 50th anniversary of Neil Armstrong and crew’s classic moon landing but the prolonged engine rumblings go on for too long, carrying the song past the six minute mark. With “K2” the heavy guitar riffs burst forth in earnest, but the band is just as adept at a slower, more introspective pace with textural soundscapes and atmospheres before building up the intensity with layered guitar and strong lead vocals. The gritty heavy rock of “Thrilla In Manila”, the ZZ Top infused “Gold Skyn” and the ‘70s throwback “The King The Life The Limousine” are more tunes to be savoured. There are thirteen tunes in total and over sixty minutes of music so there is certainly enough here to confidently say Caezium is a good band and have put forth a solid debut album with The World Is Yours. I look forward to hearing where the band goes next.

A Hitman Records release.
