Supersuckers: Play That Rock-N-Roll
If you enjoy hard driving, feel good rock and roll, look no further than Tucson born Supersuckers and their thirteenth studio album titled Play That Rock-N-Roll. The title really says it all as Eddie Spaghetti (lead and harmony vocals, bass), Marty Chandler (guitars, background vocals) and Chris von Streicher (drums, percussion, backing vocals), play unfiltered, bone shattering heavy rock. The music reminded me a little of ZZ Top with perhaps a bit of AC/DC, really fun to listen to. Ominous sounds begin “Ain’t Gonna Stop (Until I Stop It)” and then it’s all catchy riffs, ripping guitar and those slightly raspy lead vocals which lay down some good hooks throughout the album. With a song title like “Getting Into Each Other’s Pants” you just know you’re in for a rocking good time, before the heavy bluesy riffs in “Deceptive Expectation” slow down the party just a bit. Excellent harmony vocals in “You Ain’t The Boss Of Me” and the ripping guitar in the fiery “Bringing It Back” are more highlights.
This isn’t complicated stuff and neither is it meant to be. When you want a little pick-me-up the Supersuckers should do the trick. It’s short and sweet and aims right for the heart of rock and roll. Recommended.
An Acetate Records release.
