Chain Collector: Forthcoming Addiction (EP)

Boasting members of Carpathian Forest, Green Carnation and Trail of Tears, it's easy to hear how Norway's Chain Collector sounds like a familiar amalgam of aggressive yet melodic death, thrash and plain ol' heavy metal. Personal preference will determine which of the four songs on Forthcoming Addiction, a demo that also makes for a solid self-released EP, listeners will prefer. "Wicked Mask" and "Winter Princess" sound surprisingly tasteful with (mostly) clean vocals and advanced melodies that recall some of Century Media's more-tolerable bands, while "Crucifixion" and "Fallen Angel" veer off and slide neatly into the thrash/death category. Sonically, Forthcoming Addiction impresses, sounding better than most demos and even some official releases. Chain Collector recently wrapped up recording of its first album for Portugal's Sound Riot Records, which will include the four songs on Forthcoming Addiction.
