Red Razor: The Revolution Continues

Seemingly picking up from where the 2015 Red Razor debut left off, The Revolution Continues both is and isn’t as political a statement as you might think. After all, that introductory album was called Beer Revolution! That said, this frantic thrash act from Brazil aren’t only singing about ale - even if there is actually a lyric in the opening title track that demands ‘support your local micro-brewery!’ - with their mix of fun and frolics being interspersed with a much keener eye for change, as evidenced in the likes of “R.I.P. Democracy”.

With tinges of a more extreme nature, Red Razor in essence are as thrash as they come. Big gang chanted choruses thundercrushed through as though SOD just threw up on the floor by way of “For Those About To Thrash”. I mean this lot are angry but they’re also willing to party and probably combine the two if you ask nicely. “Violent Times” and “Born In South America” temporarily shelve the more throwaway lyrical approach to illustrate that these beered up lads understand what’s going on in their world and want us to as well. However, being able to counterbalance that against their odes to alcohol, such as “Sour Power”, strikes a really difficult balance rather expertly.

In terms of attack there’s not much here that sets this lot apart from a myriad of other bands in this sphere and yet that they do it well is undeniable - this is thrash by a band who clearly love to thrash. It may not change the world, although that won’t stop them trying, but Red Razor will certainly appeal to anyone hankering after some of thrash’s more frenetic moments.
