Human Impulse: Human Impulse
Human Impulse is a fairly new band and this EP is their calling card. Formed in 2017, the band brings together talented musicians from bands such as Ambassador Gun, Path of Destruction, Tinnitus, and others. The music largely builds on punk rock, but they add to it plenty of heavy metal and noise to keep things interesting and somewhat experimental. From the get-go, the band brings listeners raw musical force combined with lyrics that address the problems of our current cultural and political circumstances. For those less inclined toward noise, don’t worry. The band never leans on it so much that you lose your place. This is music to mosh to and, believe me, you won’t be able to sit still with this recording.
The best tracks on the album are those that explode with raw energy. The opener, “Behind Your Back,” was especially good at that, as was “The Darkest Hand.” Even though things never really slow down, the band does add in some cool mid-song crunching “Error Era” and some staccato-style blasts in “Pharmacaust.” If you like all those tracks, you might want to listen to the whole 16 minutes of this release.
If you want to hear some explosive new music from a band to watch, look no further.
