Moon Over Mountain: The Colors Of Life

Colorado based Moon Over Mountain is the duo of keyboardist Kenneth Lee Roberts and vocalist Megan Buness. The Colors Of Life is the title of their debut album released in 2019. Fans of new age and symphonic music will likely find this a nice listen. Lush keyboard drenched soundscapes filled with beautiful melodies and Buness’ serene and gentle vocals, sometimes wordless, sometimes not, fill these tunes with a glistening sheen. Some listeners might not appreciate the programmed drums but they serve to accentuate the soundscape as these songs might not hold up well any other way. The pop like glistening keyboard string melodies in “A Walk In Fall Leaves” and the rich tapestry of symphonic sounds in the new age inspired lead off track “Yes, I Am Here” has the disc off to a nice start. Nothing earth shattering but very pleasant on the ears indeed. Storm effects begin “You Can’t Go Home Again”, a more somber and melancholic offering. The acoustic guitar arpeggios (probably sampled) are really quite lovely and the swells of symphonic strings are just as nice. I believe the mighty Mellotron is also used quite extensively.

The Colors Of Life is a nice keyboard driven slice of new age pop music that fans of artists like Jon and Vangelis, The Moody Blues and Jean Michel Jarre will likely appreciate. Recommended for nighttime listening.
