Theatre Of Tragedy is a goth metal band who unfortunately called it quits in 2010. I haven’t heard a lot from the band but did enjoy them when the music presented itself. Fans of the band should be interested in the following project titled Remixed, where a number of electronic artists have remixed and reinterpreted some of the band’s tunes while also adding their own unique elements. The heavy goth sound remains through many of these tracks while atmospheric and moody textures gives off an ethereal vibe. The first two tracks, “And When He Falleth” and “Black As The Devil Painteth” are redone by Das Ich, a name totally new to me. The first features talking vocals that fade out in a creepy sort of way with heavy electronics and high pitched female vocals settling in. The drums and bass get really heavy and the added growls work well. With “Black As The Devil Painteth” an orchestral beginning leads into more growling and heavy string rhythms. Another pretty cool track. Atmospheric synths and Depeche Mode-like electronics make “Storm”, reworked by Zeromancer, a favourite as is the dark wave industrial sound of “Forever Is The World”, this one being the work of Siva Six. The slow groove and moody soundscapes in “Frozen” , this one brought to you by Ambrosius, makes for more textured sounds.
Electronic music fans should certainly find much to like as well as fans of gothic inspired fare. An AFM Records release.
