Gov't Mule: Bring On the Music-Live at the Capitol Theatre

Long a 'beast' of a live act, Gov't Mule has been blazing the road since the mid '90's and show no signs of slowing down, as evidenced by this latest killer live album set Bring On the Music-Live at the Capitol Theatre, which is also available on DVD & Blu-ray formats. With over 20 songs and many wild jams, this latest set brings to the table plenty of Mule favorites, some covers, and a host of surprises both old and new. As someone who has seen the band live on several occasions, you never quite know what to expect from a Gov't Mule performance, the band changing the set list nightly, and Bring On the Music captures that sense of power & mystery perfectly.

Well known numbers such as "Mule" and "Life Before Insanity" are nestled within a wealth of deep album cuts that become absolutely ferocious live, like "Dark Was the Night, Cold Was the Ground", "Revolution Come, Revolution Go", and a barnstormin' "World Boss", led throughout by the mercurial talents of Warren Haynes on guitar and vocals. Warren is a man on a mission as always, his sizzling, bluesy guitar licks & solos stellar, while his vastly underrated vocals shine on each and every track. Gotta love how they work in The Police classic "Message in a Bottle' in the middle of the rocking "Funny Little Tragedy", and their take on Grand Funk Railroad's "Sin's a Good Man's Brother" kicks some serious ass. Toss in great renditions of "Beautifully Broken", "The Man I Want to Be", "Time to Confess", and "Bring On the Music", and you have a wild, juggernaut of a live album by one of the hardest working bands in music today.
