Ghost Machinery is the melodic, power-metal outlet for guitarist Pete Ahonen. Ahonen, who is the lead guitarist for Burning Point, formed Ghost Machinery to record songs that didn't fit the Burning Point model. Bass is handled by Tapsa Pelkonen and Drums and Keyboards by Jussi Ontero, both from the band Wildcard.
Haunting Remains is Melodic Metal in the vein of Jorn. Ahonen's vocals are more than adequate and the band's sound is tight and precise. This is a solid CD for anyone that likes hard rock with a metal edge. The keyboard and guitar interaction on "Evil Within Us" is fresh and entertaining. But overall Haunting Remains doesn't contain anything that hasn't been done many times before, including your standard 80s metal ballad "Dreamworld".
The songwriting of Ahonen and the excellent performances by Ghost Machinery make this a much better than average CD. If you can't get enough power rock-n-roll, then add this to your collection. But do not expect much that is original.
