Gilbert, Charles Lee: Tall Tales

In his debut solo album guitarist, songwriter and producer Charles Lee Gilbert serves us up a masterful instrumental treat with his new album Tall Tales. From the opening track "SAtCH", which is a fluid display of technical wizardry with a true display of soul, to the third track "Churchin' " a tune that displays a heck of a groove with just a dash of funk that moves perfectly, the artist continually keeps the listener engaged.

The album moves perfectly and in later tracks like "Osmosis" (Featuring Mark Letteri) it even has an otherworldly vibe and shows great diversity and a willingness to explore.

"Tall Tales", which is the albums namesake, is a fine display of precision and a damn near perfect track that shows great power and features some incredible slide guitar work. The album closes out with "Grease Fire", which is a fitting close to a excellent album and goes out strong with a fantastic jazz vibe. This album is anything but easy to define and a refreshing breath of fresh air.
