Sacred Reich / Iron Reagan: Split 7�

This split is really short, so short that it will take me longer to write about it than to listen to it multiple times. That’s fine; I like this kind of music and so do many of you. For those unsure about why this release matters, it’s best to see it as a reminder that Sacred Reich is actively putting out new music after a long hiatus. “Don’t Do It Donnie� is a standalone track, but it’s a nice preview of what we should expect from the new album later this year. The song is a solid punk / thrash anthem about Donald Trump, his arrogance, his posturing, and his war-centered threats. The song hearkens back to the golden age of hardcore when bands cried out against Ronald Reagan and his own fascination with American bombs. The best line from this song captures the current moment perfectly: “I can’t believe you’ll be in our history books.�

The second track, Iron Reagan’s “They Scream� is also exclusive to this release. It pairs nicely with “Don’t Do It Donnie� even though it’s less a fist-pumping anthem than an invitation to the circle pit. If you like Iron Reagan, you’ll love “They Scream.� It captures the band’s signature crossover sound and proves that Iron Reagan will never slow down and never let up. To my mind, they get better with every new release.
