Sins of the Damned: Striking the Bell of Death

Sins of the Damned is a beloved band in their native Chile and it’s easy to see why. Their music pulses with classic metal energy while also driving things forward in ways that give that extra dose of the modern. The band’s music is energetic and dark in ways that point to several influences while also rising above all of them. Yes, fans will clearly hear musical reminders of Exciter, Razor, or Whiplash. There’s even a little bit of the restless drive and energy of Paul Di’Anno-era Iron Maiden. Even if fans of classic metal love Sins of the Damned, they will quickly discover that they just love this band because they’re sounding that bell of death from track to track in ways that are impossible to resist. Just listen to “Take the Weapons” “Striking the Bell of Death” or “Death’s All Around You.”

I know I’m a sucker for album art with skeletons, but just look at that grim figure on the cover of this one! He’s got a scythe in one hand and a massive bell in the other. Even if you try to run, there’s really no escape. Those ghouls won’t lose you and the skeleton always gets what he wants. In a world where cover art is sometimes better than the music, you can count on Sins of the Damned to bring you something dark and energetic and irresistible. Highly recommended.
