The title track is the first song off of The God Machine and it is a fantastic opening with a slight Scorpions phrasing but welcome to a wide arena of guitar melody and vocal power. “Dark Mask (Between Love and Hate)” is a strong contender for a single released on hard rock radio. It’s has a hard rock snap your finger sound with a catchy lyric.
“Soulhunter” is a throw-back to Helloween influenced tunes but done very good and the more you listen to this vocalist the most you hear a broader range of rock capabilities. “Lucifer - The Devil Inside” and “Fight, Kill” are straight forward heavy metal numbers that might play bland with other bands but Steel Prophet turn them into a worthy songs showcasing their group performance skills and allowing the guitarist to blaze forth to his own leanings.
The final track “Love, Life, God Machine is related to the title track and come across as a sequel to answer the questions the vocalist puts forward about the various paths humanity takes on finding love, peace and harmony. Great guitar work on this cut and the vocalist again is belting out bluesy brilliance. This band needs a bigger audience and I honestly feel its collective force is undiscovered. Until now.
