TNT: Encore Live In Milano

Norway’s great Hard Rock export, TNT, have been a band with many lineup changes over the years, but Frontiers Records were able to get the band together for their own “Frontiers Rock Festival” in Italy back in 2017. This new live album, Encore Live In Milano is the result of that headlining performance with longtime singer, Tony Harnell, back at the helm, alongside guitar wizard and band mastermind , Ronni LeTekro.

Those in attendance to this special evening were treated to 15 TNT classics as well as a Ronni LeTekro guitar solo performance. This lineup was not to remain intact for very much longer (Harnell had rejoined TNT in 2013, quitting in 2015 and rejoining again in early 2016 after his brief stint with Skid Row before calling it quits again in October 2017) as TNT would soon replace Harnell on vocals yet again with singer Baol Bardot Bulsara, but this Italian audience was treated to once in a lifetime concert that thankfully is now available for the world to bear witness to the power that was this lineup of TNT.

Opening the concert for what was TNT’s 30th anniversary of their Intuition album, was an odd choice with the slow builder, “Give Me A Sign”. A great song that Ronni and the boys quickly ratchet up, while Tony Harnell shows that 30 years of belting out those great and high soaring vocals have not taken a toll on his range and power. Next up is the more upbeat “As Far As The Eye Can See” from the Tell No Tales album, where the band sounds as tight as if it were still 1986. “Desperate Night” (also from the Tell No Tales album) shows the band in great form, while “Invisible Noise” gives LeTekro room to display his patented “machine gun” guitar picking technique that has marveled fellow guitar players for decades.

This is an excellent sounding live album and TNT were in fine form on Encore and delivered a great set filled with some timeless classic’s from their Intuition, Tell No Tells, My Religion, and their brilliant Knights Of The New Thunder albums. How Ronni LeTekro has not become more of a true guitar hero is still a complete mystery to me. LeTekro has one of the truly great guitar tones and styles of the past 35 years and Ronni is worth the price of this package, all on his own. LeTekro Rules!! Other true concert highlights have to be the fan favorite, “10,000 Lovers” and the metallic greatness of “Seven Seas”, both of which sound as great as they did in the early to mid 80’s. Available on CD, CD/DVD and Blu-Ray, Encore Live In Milano is a must own for any TNT, Tony Harnell or Ronni LeTekro disciple and it is also a great way to close another TNT/Harnell chapter of the band.
