Cloutier is bluesy rock band you can easily picture yourself listening to in a local bar. Brothers Mark and Myke Cloutier kick this album off strong with opening track "Flipping and Flapping", which flows nicely into the rough and edgy sound of "Whispering Howling Wind".
Mark Cloutier’s style of playing is straight ahead and highly groove influenced.
The songs on Thunder 'n' Lightning are fast instead of being drawn out as they slow things down on the fourth track, "I Call Home",
which is a heavy hitting track that feels it could easily be longer as it's feel touches the soul.
The tracks are largely quick and to the point as Cloutier displays they aren’t here to play around on later tracks like "Down" which has an almost psychedelic rock vibe minus the extended solos.
The album closes out with "Thunder and Lighting", a track where the band really opens up, and is a great way to close out this album. Overall it's a fast and fun listen and shows Cloutier is a band that can easily grow from what is a solid debut.
