Laraaji/Arji Oceananda/Dallas Acid: Arrive Without Leaving

Here are three names I have never heard before. Ambient/new age artist Laraaji, the synth trio Dallas Acid and meditative artist Arji Oceananda. As you might imagine this is a new age album and for some people that might be reason enough to stop reading. Now I’m not going to say I am the biggest fan but this album titled Arrive Without Leaving defines said genre quite well.

The album doesn’t deviate much from its core objective of soothing synth washes, cascading Mellotron engagements and enriched zither soundscapes. This is another one of those albums that doesn’t lend itself to a track by track review as you really could consider this one long piece. That said there are moments when the ‘feel’ does change and the mood becomes very trippy and ominous like in the slightly unsettling “Full Moon Serenade�. The zither on “This Much Now� is one of the album’s more relaxing moments. The uniform pacing of the tracks plays a significant role here so if you are not a fan of new age music this album isn’t likely to change your mind. As for me, this disc will sit firmly in my nighttime music que with headphones on and a state of total relaxation the goal.
