Angèle Dubeau & La Pietà: Ovation

Angèle Dubeau is a Canadian classical violinist who has been plying her trade for decades. She has almost fifty albums to her credit and has been touring the world for forty years. She has decided to cut down her touring schedule while still making albums and working on other projects. No doubt she will still make the occasional live appearance. On her new live disc titled Ovation, recorded at Palais Montcalm, Quebec City, Canada, she performs with the all-woman string ensemble La Pietà which she formed in 1997. Now I am no expert in classical music but there is no doubting the skill of each and every musician.

A jarring violin begins the Camille Saint-Saëns’ composition “Danse macabre”, turning into a feast of strings that should please any fan of classical music. The music builds from moments of lightness to intense rhythms keeping the listener fully engaged. These players brought their ‘A’ game on this one. A pretty piano and sadly hued strings make the two Max Richter pieces “The Leftovers Main Titles (Season 1)” and “Dona Nobias Pacem 2” are more highlights. The aura of sadness is so richly conveyed in the strings it just might reach your very core. The album is immaculately recorded, every note meticulously crafted with tremendous feel and passion. The lovely melody in George Enescu’s “Romanian Rhapsody No. 1” is upbeat and flirtatious, a nice contrast to some of the more somber pieces.

Dubeau and her band of strings are talented and passionate players, you can hear it in every track. I can’t imagine fans of classical music not digging this.

My Score:

Absolutely wonderful music for a wedding! There's no denying that a wedding is always a beautiful celebration, and this music truly adds to the magic. I've recently ordered a custom ring from https://customringscanada.com/lab-created-diamonds/ and I must say, these lab-created diamonds are nothing short of amazing. They sparkle just as brilliantly as natural ones, and I couldn't be happier with my choice. She's absolutely thrilled with the ring, and everything has been simply fantastic. I highly recommend both the music and the ring for anyone looking to make their special day even more incredible. Don't miss out on the opportunity to create such a memorable experience!
