Dynazty: Firesign

Here is one of the catchiest discs I have heard in an awfully long time. The band is called Dynazty and their new album is titled Firesign. The Swedish symphonic metal outfit released their debut in 2009 titled Bring The Thunder, followed by Knock You Down (2011), Sultans Of Sin (2012), Renatus (2014) and Titanic Mass (2016).

I can’t tell you what their other releases are like but this new one had me hooked right from the opening track “Breathe With Me”. A short burst of electronics begin the piece before a power metal-like pace is set and melodic yet powerful lead vocals add the hooks. The vocals throughout the album are certainly a high water mark. Urgent symphonic metal, great use of keys and a super catchy chorus. “The Grey” is slightly moodier as the keyboards add some nice embellishments. It all makes for another memorable track. Next is the symphonic power metal of “In The Arms Of A Devil” followed by “My Darkest Hour” showing some softer elements to go along with rapid fire drumming, soaring vocals and another fine orchestral arrangement. The heavy metal crunch of “Follow Me” with its shredding guitar solo, the soaring vocal delivery in the infectious “Let Me Dream Forever” and the orchestral metal bliss of “Starfall” are more highlights.

Firesign is indeed an excellent album. Very catchy and immediate but with enough depth so as not to be forgotten. Dynazty is a band that should appeal to fans of melodic, symphonic and power metal.

An AFM Records release.
