Devil's Hand ft. Slamer - Freeman: Devil's Hand

Fans of Melodic Hard Rock rejoice! Frontiers Music has released the debut collaboration from the legendary guitarist, Mike Slamer (City Boy, Streets, Warrant, Seventh Key, Steelhouse Lane, Slamer, Terry Brock) and power house singer Andrew Freeman (Last In Line, Lynch Mob, The Offspring) under the moniker of Devil's Hand. Their 10 song debut is an easily digestible record filled with Melodic AOR hooks, polished songwriting and awe-inspiring guitar licks. Fans of Journey, Kansas and other 80's styled Melodic Hard Rock will love this record.

Mike Slamer is not a household guitar slinger name and while he does reside in millions of homes around the globe, he is not as well known as he should be and this a complete travesty. He is a guitar player's, guitar player much in the way names like Mike Landau and Steve Lukather are, but Slamer is a better songwriter. From all of the lead guitar work on the first two Warrant albums, to the seven fantastic City Boy records from the 70's and 80's and everything else he has done, Slamer always delivers silky, fiery and virtuoso guitar work wherever he lays his hat and this new Devil's Hand project is no exception. Coupled with what might be Andrew Freeman's best vocals thus far in his career and a batch of well crafted songs, Devil's Hand is an easy winner.

Slamer and Freeman rock hard on tracks like "Another Way To Fly" and "Drive Away" that are heavy ear worms that will get stuck in your head. Freeman soars here and Slamer sets himself up with more sheer guitar hero brilliance, all while actually playing for and within the song. "Justified" is an acoustic ballad, heartfelt song that shows Freeman in a different light than his usual balls to the wall delivery that he has become known for. There is a reason why Andrew Freeman has become a popular Hard Rock/Metal singer on the scene these days and these are easily his best vocals recorded so far.

To call Mike Slamer a musician's musician is an understatement and it's about time for the masses to get hip to this, check out the song and solo in "Rise Above It All" for a quick reference! Devil's Hand featuring Mike Slamer and Andrew Freeman is an excellent Melodic Hard Rock record. For an AOR record, there is nothing wimpy about this record and all 10 songs are quality bits of good songwriting, while the slick production balanced and damn near perfect. Devil's Hand is Melodic Hard Rock highlight!
