Anderson, DK: Quantum Truth

Pennsylvanian born DK Anderson is a tenor saxophonist who has been playing music professionally for around twenty years, first as a member of the Roger Humphries Big Band (2001 to 2007), then as a member of Pittsburgh’s Boogie Hustlers (2004 to 2007). In 2007 Anderson took a break from music but has come back strong with an excellent new album titled Quantum Truth.

Floating and dreamy keyboards and a great sax solo highlight the tasty opening track “Inner Urge”. After listening to this album a couple of times it’s the band’s ability to lay down some ultra-chilled out grooves that really stand out. That and each musician’s ability to commit to some outstanding solo spots. Diane Anderson adds jazz vocals to “I’m Hip”, another fairly laid back tune. There’s a bit of reggae in “Epistrophy” and the sax goes slightly against the curve with a bit more dissonance. Again, the bass playing is excellent. For a great sax and guitar jam try the fiery “All The Things You Are” and the scintillating sax and guitar solos in the fusion sounds of “Sun Sail” are more highlights. That’s the first five tunes and they are all excellent with the remaining three just as good.

DK Anderson is back and that’s a very good thing for jazz fans. A very strong comeback indeed.

Hey, thanks for the great review. I see the host Pete Pardo posted a video of his top 10 King Crimson tunes. We love King Crimson, too. Here's a link to our recording of Epitaph. We did this in one take in a rehearsal. We've only performed it once live. Thought you all might enjoy.
