Agnus Dei: REIKI-1: Heaven's Gift/REIKI-2: Infinite Mind

The name Gerald Krampl, founder of Agnus Dei, might not be a familiar name to the prog rock world, but many might remember his symphonic keyboard playing on albums by the bands Kyrie Eleison and Indigo back in the late 70's & early 80's. Giving up prog in the 1990's, Krampl studied Reiki, an art of self healing, meditation, and focusing energy flow. These two volumes are designed to be played during Reiki sessions, and feature Krampl on multiple keyboards, creating uplifting, soaring, and haunting soundscapes supplemented by segues of ocean sounds.

Lush synths, majestic piano, and ominous Mellotron patches make up the majority of the sounds on these two CD's. While this is mainly music to meditate and relax to, those who appreciate well played keyboard melodies might find something to sink their teeth into here. No, this isn't prog rock, it's not fusion, and it's not quite New Age, but something a little more ethereal that floats somewhere in between. If you are looking for some tranquil keyboard sounds, played by a former member of the prog community, these two volumes might be worth seeking out.
