RUSTY BONEZ: Wrath

Greek metal outfit RUSTY BONEZ recently released their debut album titled Wrath. Stoner metal and grunge seems to be the obvious reference points throughout the albums ten tracks. Solid riffs, slightly gruff lead vocals and pounding beats make up this band’s resume.

The album doesn’t break new ground and that likely wasn’t the band’s intent. This is solid hard hitting rock and metal beginning with the album opening instrumental “Ball N’ Chain” with crisp interaction between drums, bass and guitar. This is one of my favourite tracks but it’s not really indicative of the rest of the album. The remaining tracks are much more gritty, lots of fuzz and distortion to be had. The heavy stoner rock of the title track and the grunge influenced “Broken Mold” are prime examples. The band rocks hard in all facets. On “Scream Of Souls” a mellow beginning guitar riff is quickly absorbed by the ensuing heavy onslaught. The slower “Nameless Hero” is another grungy fuzz soaked tune with the vocals recalling acts from the ‘90s like Alice in Chains. The guitar work is well done with nice sustain and just the right amount of repetitiveness. The blistering guitar riffs and solo in “Goldman Shagged” and the bass heavy “Stoned Skin” are noteworthy as well.

Wrath is a solid hard rock/metal album. If you are a fan of ‘90s grunge I can safely recommend it without hesitation.
