Kontinuum: No Need To Reason

Iceland's dark and mesmerizing band, Kontinuu, have returned with their new album No Need To Reason. With powerful songwriting featuring somber post-rock and contemplative undertones, Kontinuum continue to forge ahead as a unique and often looked up Icelandic Rock band.

No Need To Reason is a 10 track album that is deep with atmospheric tones that are filled with beautifully executed melancholy consciousness. Tunes like the album opener, "Shiver", demonstrate that eerie Blue Öyster Cult/Ghost dynamic with oodles of an almost demonic undertone. Vocals are delivered in that soft and breathy coaxed out type of transmission, that just adds that ominous and bleak factor that is perfect for this type of music. Songs are carefully crafted and full of introspective lyrics and tones that are ripe for the picking of fans of the lyrical exploits of the late great Finnish band Sentenced or for fans of the more mournful musings of the fantastic Katatonia. A song like "Neuron" give thoughts of a more subdued and tranquil Type O Negative, sans the Dracula vocals, albeit with a slow Doom cadence.

Kotinuum's"lush and melodramatic opus that is entitled, No Need To Reason, is a deep and honest delve into the dramatic and full of melody that one might find themselves with eyes wide shut and swooning to the deluge of thick and dank outpouring of hypnotic music of this collection of 10 chorale numbers. This is an almost spiritual type of musical noise.
