Hard Times is the sophomore release from UK rockers Doomsday Outlaw, out now on Italy's Frontiers Records. Featuring 11 new songs, Hard Times rocks with plenty of groove, the bands blend of Bad Company, Black Label Society, The Rolling Stones, and Clutch styled hard rock, pop, and boogie permeating the arrangements. "Days Since I Saw the Sun" might be the catchiest tune here, a sort of modern Southern Rock-ish piece (reminds of a mellower Black Stone Cherry) that has plenty of breakout potential, but for the most part the songs are appealing without ever getting too heavy. "Will You Wait" contains some sizzling blues rock guitar solos, while "Over and Over", "Come My Way", and the title cut all are fun hard rocking tunes with grooves and boogie to spare. Honestly, there's not really anything negative to say about Hard Times, other than perhaps nothing here really screams 'greatness', but if you are looking for a solid set of bluesy hard rock tunes, you can't really go wrong here.
