Noisepicker: Peace Off

In an age when band names can be hard to come up with, Noisepicker has definitely found something hard to forget. They also have a knack for memorable song titles. Even if you don’t listen to this album, check out the sometimes funny and sometimes ironic titles listed below. I think my favorite is “So You’re Sick?� because I know people who are that blunt and that awkward.

Noisepicker is largely the product of Harry Armstrong, a UK-based singer / guitarist best known for his role in bands like End of Level Boss, Lord of Putrefaction, Decomposed, and others. Noisepicker reflects Armstrong’s interest in doing something influenced by heavy blues and a dark mood. After working out some preliminary ideas, Armstrong brought on Kieran Murphy to play the drums which eventually led to gigs and this album.

Listeners will definitely pick up on the heavy blues influences right away even if the album is something more than just a blues album. Armstrong has a strong voice and he definitely gives it his all here. His guitar playing is also big and beefy in ways I think fans of this style will enjoy. It’s good to report that Murphy’s drumming knows when to hit things hard and when to back off. Overall, Noisepicker makes a strong impression. I suggest checking out a few tracks to see what you think. I liked the last three tracks the best.
