Evil Hunter: Evil Hunter

Spanish Metal band, Evil Hunter, have released their debut self titled album via Fighter Records. The 8 track release is in the Old School Power Metal vain of a Hammerfall or Primal Fear with elements of Accept coursing through their veins.

This Evil Hunter debut is filled with fast uptempo songs, a solid and strenuous rhythm section and modern day shred filled guitar soloing. Vocals are delivered with a young Udo Dirkschneider sounding, broken glass throated, type of style and it is those vocals that bring in the Accept comparisons, not so much the actual musical stylings. Evil Hunter goes from 80's Power Metal with songs like "Heartbeat" and "Surf The Waves" to their sappy Bad English/Steelheart type of ballad, "By Your Side", that really doesn't fit on this record.

Evil Hunter have released a debut record that sounds like it was 30 years in the making and should have been released back in 1988 or so. These Spanish chaps wear their German Metal fandom on their sleeves and it oozes all over this record and that isn't a bad thing. This is a meat and potatoes type of album, with no real groundbreaking material, but a good solid effort it is.
