Gotthard founder & guitarist Leo Leoni has put together a new project he's calling Coreleoni, meant to revisit some of the lesser known & forgotten Gotthard songs that he still loves dearly, now giving them a new spin with a new cast of characters. Joining him is the all-of-a-sudden very busy Ronnie Romero (Lords of Black, Rainbow, The Ferrymen) on vocals, Gotthard drummer Hena Habegger, guitarist Igor Gianola, and bassist Mila Merker.
Long time Gotthard fans can expect super-charged 2018 versions of strong tracks such as "Firedance", "Downtown", the bluesy "Get It While You Can", the soaring power ballad "All I Care For", and the chugging metal anthem "Walk on Water". Loads of super crisp & crunchy hard rock & metal riffing to be found here courtesy of Leoni and Gianola (the production is superb) and, as to be expected, Romero and his potent Ronnie James Dio/Jorn Lande sounding pipes are in fine form throughout. Honestly, these guys sound like they are having a blast here, the band turning "Here Comes the Heat" into a raging Scorpions styled thumper, and "Ride On" is pure metallic hard rock adrenaline. Seeing as Leoni has labeled this as Part 1, I'm sure Part 2 isn't far behind, as with such an extensive catalog, he and his main band can't play them all, so Coreleoni will just have to tackle all those long lost Gotthard nuggets going forward it seems.
