Metal Majesty: 2005

Lion Music has consistently been putting out excellent instrumental rock and metal CDs. So I was a little surprised to receive Metal Majesty's new CD 2005. The second surprise was in the fact that although Metal Majesty's roots are in Metal, this is far from a Metal CD. The opening track "We Rocked" has a distinct UFO feel.

Actually, most of the CD has a feel you have heard before. "Burying Heather" has this Beatles Eleanor Rigby string line through it, "Ready to Roar" is a Van Halen imitation, and "Love Will Make You Bleed" has a distinct 80s MTV feel to it. So is all this allusion to other artists good or bad? In the case of Metal Majesty's, it is definitely good.

2005 is a CD that is easily accessible, you feel you know it from the first listen. But after several spins, I am seeing Valensia's signature all over the place. This CD is melodic and has a pop-tinge, but it still rocks. Metal Majesty's is highly recommended for fans of accessible metal.

Metal Majesty: 2005

My Score:

Have you listened to this album?
It is the most blatant rip off of Whitesnake's 1987 and Slip of the Tongue albums, plus the first Blue Murder album, that you listen with 50/50 split feelings of "is this a joke?" and "that's criminal".
Yes the performance and mix is excellent. But it's not original in the slightest.
Every fill, change, melody has been used before by Cov/Snake/Blue Murder. ok apart from the Beatles song. Even the vocal inflections are in the same place, same songs as the "originals".

This is awful - obviosuly the guys can play but obviouslt they can't write thier own songs.

Avoid.
