Voidhanger: Dark Days of the Soul

The band's commentary on this album says it best: "Expect nothing but razor-sharp riffs, hateful vocals and merciless drumming that will turn your safe space into dust." That last point is my favorite because it's funny and also true. There's nothing safe about this album, just a healthy mix of dark black / death / thrash music that also draws on punk, dbeat, and whatever else the band feels like including. If you've never heard Voidhanger before, expect something heavy, nihilistic, and dark. If you're in a very dark mood, this is a soundtrack for your day. I liked "Man of Dark Secrets" and "Naprzód Donikadi!" the best.
