Fight the Fight: Fight the Fight

Barely breaking into their twenties, Fight the Fight has already been a band, though under a different name (Faenskap), for more than a decade. They've played at all the major festivals in Norway, toured Europe and have received massive praise for their live performances and yes, I've never heard of them either. But all of that is about to change with their debut, self-titled album now available on the mighty Metal Blade records.

Fight the Fight's 8 song debut release is a solid, heavy Metal-Core effort filled with angst and catchy melodies and clocks in at just under 30 minutes. Huge riffs mesh effortlessly with memorable hooks, while all strewn together with a headbangable Metal and a Progressive sound that will leave you with their choruses stuck in your head. Songs like, "Addictions" and "Fight the Fight", encompass a "Threat Signal" like staccato chugging riff that gives way to a big sing along type of anthemic chant that is sure to be a live favorite for the band. Vocals are scratchy and passionate and remind me of a cross between Avenged Sevenfold meets whatever gravel throated screamer you'd like to insert here as a comparison.

Stockpiled with energy on this debut, Fight the Fight, deliver a motivated and heavy Metal-Core release that fans of Refused to Bring Me The Horizon should dig. These Norwegians offer no excuses here and go for the throat with both the metallic and the melodic and do both pretty damn well.
