PAL is a collaboration between guitarist Roger Ljunggren, bassist Peter Andersson and vocalist/Keyboardist Peo Pettersson. They hail from Skara, a small town in the southwest of Sweden and the band members have been friends for around thirty years. Roger Ljunggren wrote the music and recorded the guitars and solos before Peter Andersson arranged, produced and played the bass. Peo Pettersson then added the vocals. Mauritz Petersson was hired to do the drums. Prime is brought to you by AOR Heaven from Germany.
The main problem with Prime is that it is topped and tailed by the best songs on the album. Both "Heads or Trails" and "One Step Away" are toe-tapping crunchy pieces of melodic rock and "One Step Away" has particularly tasty guitar work but the songs in between are a bit of a muchness and don't really distinguish themselves from each other. Even worse is the distinct lack of originality anywhere on the album, each clichéd lyric being signposted a mile away, each chorus going exactly where you expect and tracks two to ten just meld into each other which is a shame given tracks one and eleven.
