Frontiers Records continues their late 2017 release parade with the latest from Hollywood glam rockers Pretty Boy Floyd, titled Public Enemies. A real throwback to mid/late '80s acts such as Motley Crue, Poison, Ratt, Warrant, Faster Pussycat, Trixter, and Enuff Z Nuff, the guys in Pretty Boy Floyd bring plenty of sleaze, hairspray, lipstick, and leather to the table and flaunt their stuff as if it was 1988 all over again. Catchy anthems all over the place here, including "Girls All Over the World", "Feel the Heat", "American Dream", "Do Ya Wanna Rock", and "We Got the Power", each one filled with crunchy guitar riffs and lyrical cliches up the wazoo, but you can tell the band are having a blast, which is what counts. Lead singer Steve Summers seemingly popped out of an '80s time machine with his 'nuts in a vice' vocal style, but he fits these sleazy party rock tunes perfectly, though listening to him sing "We Can't Bring Back Yesterday" you kind of get the feeling the band themselves are wondering what the shelf life of doing this kind of throwback stuff really is. For '80s hair band fans however, Public Enemies will be a hell of a lot of fun.
