Dante Fox: Six String Revolver

Dante Fox's current line-up is; Sue Willetts Manford - lead vocals; Tim Manford - lead guitar and backing vocals; Alan Mills - bass guitar and much-travelled ivory tickler Eric Ragno. Their new album Six String Revolver sees the band pay homage to their most popular songs from the first two albums from the 90's. These songs, their 'hits,' if you will, have been re-recorded from the ground up with love, respect, precision and an excellent state of the art modern production from Sheena Sear at M2 Studios.

I have to say that I am on board with groups updating their classics with updated production values even if sometimes the reasons may be more financial than artistic. Rhapsody of Fire have recently done it and Iron Savior are about to do it and if the back catalogue is strong, often interesting results occur. Dante Fox's back catalogue is stronger than one might think for a pretty cultish band. In fact, driven by Sue Willett's soaring voice and Tim Manford's guitars, there's case for saying that this band should have been – and still should be capable of drawing large crowds. The opening trio could stand toe-to-toe with any melodic rock album of recent times and the rest aren't far behind. Do yourself a favour, and if you haven't chased the Fox thus far in their career, do it now.
