On their sophomore release for Svart Records, Hot Wired Beat, Finnish four-piece act Hard Action take their love of classic hard rock, punk, and indie music, throw it all in a blender, and out comes a pretty accessible yet aggressive batch of songs that are fun and rocking at the same time. Images of vintage Thin Lizzy pop up on "Free Fall", while the punkish vibe of both "Nothing Ever Changed" and "Hostile Street" is like a head on collision between The Sex Pistols and Hanoi Rocks. "The Losing Side" is almost like an homage to Tom Petty, and the Lizzy styled twin guitar shine on the energetic "Running Start". Slashing guitars ring out on the raucous "Knocked Down, Dragged Out", and "Tunnel Vision" again brings to mind the early punk scene, mixed with some Rolling Stones styled swagger and loads of tasty guitar solos.
As it just always seems to be the case lately, there's definitely something in the water over there in the Scandinavian region, with bands from Finland not wanting their neighbors in Sweden getting all the glory. Hard Action are another fine band that deserve your attention.
