It took Swedish metal act Terminal Function nearly seven years to record and release their sophomore album Clockwork Sky back in 2015, but they've come back fairly quickly this time around, although armed with just three short tracks for their new EP Krakstören. Their brand of technical death metal/djent is now sounding closer than ever to their mighty countrymen Meshuggah, as these three massive new songs feature a never ending supply of face melting riffs, acrobatic leads, barking vocals, and a thunderous, gyrating bottom end. "Chiral Ghost" busts out of the gate with some massive grooves and riffs to die for, while the acrobatic, crushing " A Sociopath's Delusion" is a pure delight for anyone who loves challenging but seriously heavy extreme metal. A wealth of blazing lead guitar and sick drumming permeate the raging "Axis Gone", another busy track that will just bash you over the head with pulverizing power, the little piano section a nice touch on what is otherwise a sledgehammer assault of furious metal. And, just like that, it's over, and you'll be wanting more, so hopefully Terminal Function come back real soon with more of this type of stuff. Recommended.
