Forged In Black: Sinner Sanctorum (EP)

Mighty metal warriors Forged In Black have once again linked up with the legendary producer Chris Tsangarides (Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy and many more) to unleash this latest 4 track EP. The UK quintet are very much shaped in the classic Metal mould, exemplified by the huge riffs, duelling guitars and overblown vocals but despite the frenetic assault they take their time with a running time of around thirty minutes. Vocalist Chris 'Stoz' Storoznski certainly makes a strong impression with his theatrical delivery and it is easy to understand why Forged In Black have been compared favourably with Candlemass.

The runaway highlight of the four songs has to be the near ten minutes 'Crimson Echoes' which has the obligatory acoustic intro before developing into a dark, oppressive and complex doom-inspired anthem. And with plenty of the precision guitar work from the duo of Andy Songhurst and Chris Bone and Tsangarides spot-on production this has to be regarded as their finest achievement so far.
