Doyle, Sir Arthur Conan: The Hound of the Baskervilles
The Hound of the Baskervilles marks Sherlock Holmes's first appearance since Doyle killed him off in "The Final Problem." Although Doyle wearied of writing Holmes, he couldn't deny the character's popularity. Baskervilles, a classic tale of madness, mystery, and horror, gave Holmes the afterlife he still enjoys. He is the most adapted character of all and this adaptation only contributes to that lasting legacy.
With this release, Cadabra records delivers another excellent collectible package. It is only available in a limited run of 300 copies on 150-gram vinyl. The packaging includes a heavyweight gatefold sleeve with liner notes by Anthony D. P. Mann and artwork by Adam Burke. The cover art gets right to the point: the hound, dark and demonic, stares at the viewer, it's eyes glowing and its teeth sharp. The adaptation is excellent. The cast features, among others, Sir Derek Jacobi as Holmes, IIke Hincer as Sir Henry, Amie Bello as Mrs. Barrymore, and Nikolas Yuen as Mortimer. Fans of Sherlock Holmes and of spoken word recordings won't want to miss this one.
