Blood Feast: The Future State of Wicked
For those unfamiliar with Blood Feast, the band formed in 1985 under the name Blood Lust but changed their name shortly after being approached by New Renaissance Records. In the 80s, the band quickly released one demo, one full-length album, one EP, and another full-length album to close out the decade. While working on the second album, Adam Tranquilli left the band. The rest of the band finished the album but broke up shortly after the album appeared. The band partially reunited a couple of times since those days, but things took a more serious turn in 2014 as the band discovered a new drummer and second guitarist. The current lineup consists of Adam Tranquilli (guitar), Chris Natalini (vocals), Tom Lorenzo (bass), Joe Moore (drums), and CJ Scioscia (guitar).
I never listened to Blood Feast back in the day, but if the old stuff is anything like the new stuff, fans will not be disappointed. I know I wasn't. The music is basically an intense and crushing blend of thrash and death metal played to perfection. Every song is played with fierceness and intensity, suggesting to me that the band is hungry to reconnect with fans. Every song on this release is either excellent or awesome. The guitar solos are blistering and impressive and the riffs are powerful and intense. Highly recommended.
