Lars Eric Mattsson's Vision: Till the End of Time

Till the End of Time from Lars Eric Mattsson's Vision is a re-release of a 1997 album but this time it has new guitar solos, keyboards and bass. Vision has a MSG meets Dokken groove to it and the vocalist has that AOR pop metal sound very common in the late 1980's. But this retro combination proves very successful precisely because they are not trying to do 12 guitar solos per song to prove they belong with the pack. They belong already.

"Surrender to Love, ""Want You for Real," and "Open Up Your Heart" showcase a musical marriage taking place between a masterful melodic guitar player and a soulful melodic singer. It's the partnership all bands seek but not all bands acquire. The title track "Till the End of Time" is a semi-ballad of simplistic beauty and great backup vocals. "We Can Make It Together" is perhaps the first time I heard of song of pop rock genre have a direct influence from Boston and it is my favorite of this collection.

Vision is a major lesson to many of us whom often want guitars blazing and vocals breaking wineglasses but forget how important a correctly written song or perfectly pitched vocal is essential to the integrity of making a solid album. I never heard this album in 1997 and feel blessed and privileged to listen it in 2017 and wonder about those years. Till the End of Time will bring you back once again to the days of pop rock glory.
