Vhaldemar: Old King's Visions
The last time I heard an EP play I was a young man serving in the US Air Force in California. But I understand the need for this device since if often serves as a bridge to a bigger release. That is the case with Vhaldemar who are also using Old King's Visions as a method to reintroduce themselves to the audience after past efforts had not brought them the exposure they so richly deserve.
Vhaldemar is a Spanish metal band formed in the last 1990's whom have been deeply influenced by Motorhead and Helloween and play with the force of power metal and the finesse of progressive metal to make a most enjoyable combination. The title track "Old King's Visions" is a perfect introduction to the infectious power/progressive style the band is offering to old fans and new fans alike.
Vhaldemar end this EP of power melodic songs with a cover of an early Helloween track "Gorgar" and hit it out of the ballpark with a diesel-fueled rendition bound to remind those in the know that dedication and talent are standard in the metal movement. It is the heart of the warrior that makes a metal band a living piece of traveling art. These guys deserve our support. Their full-length album Against All Kings drops in October of this year. Mark your calendars.
