Of all the lycanthro-punk bands out there, Wolfbrigade is easily the best. The band has been making music since 1995 and they've maintained a passion for heavy music that blends d-beat, hardcore, and crust. There's no mistaking Motorhead's influence here but Wolfbrigade takes their heralded sound and makes it as fresh and exciting as ever.
On this release, the band engages with themes of social and political injustice. Instead of looking to institutions to do the heavy lifting, the band explores individual change and what could happen if people look inside themselves. Wolfbrigade also drew on dystopian fiction for inspiration. I admit that I didn't pay much attention to the lyrics. I'm interested in the ideas but I just let myself relax and enjoy the music. There's nothing like 30 minutes of lycanthro-punk at the end of a long day.
